THE RAUMZEITPIRATEN
the RaumZeitPiraten were founded in 2007 by tobias daemgen and moritz ellerich with an overhead projector and a little toypiano. within their intermedial realtimestudies and media-lab-situations they explore the artificial generation of multidimensionalitiesand possibilities of its perception and intermediation. they use custom build optic/acoustic instruments like the Haptonium and the Brummsel or complex apparat modifications like the Laser-Octopus and the Light Parasites. their activities are aimed at playful, experimental connections of sound, image, object, space and time to an alternately self-expanding-multimedia-performance-surround spaceship-laboratorytravel to somewhere between science and fiction. streams of light and sound sculptures are set up as a site-specific installations by developing kinetic objects, arranging chemical and physical processes, as well as inventing optical and acoustical effects. The range of light and projection technique reaches from simple light bulbs to overhead projectors up to professional theatreequipment and laserprojections. the performative presence and constant intervention of the RaumZeitPiraten is a fundamental aspect in their work.
